6th Grade Suggested Reading List
7th Grade Suggested Reading List
Sixth and Seventh graders, for your reading assignment, be sure that you choose books that fall in the appropriate Lexile range. To check the Lexile level on a book of interest, go to the Lexile Framework for Reading website.
Many of the books on the suggested reading lists are available from Prince George's County or Charles County public libraries as well as the school library. They are only a small part of the books you can choose from and are offered only as suggestions. You can check the St. Columba library for a book by going to the Library webpage on the school website and use the catalog link on the left. If you wish to check out from the St. Columba Library, please complete the form below, listing the desired book(s) in the comment field, and you will be advised when the requested book(s) are available in the school office for pick-up.
Enjoy your reading adventure!
For both 6th and 7th grade, you will need to review skills at the grade level just completed (new 6th - 5th grade skills; new 7th - 6th grade skills) by logging on to IXL.com/signin/saintcolumba using your username (first initial with last name) and password (math). If this does not work, you can contact Mrs.Pointer at: [email protected]. Your work will be reviewed and verified so to ensure proper credit, please follow the log-in procedure.
You will have unlimited access to IXL.com. You can do practice reviews as often as you like, trying to improve your score and achieve mastery. (Minimum score of 85 required.) The highest score on each skill will be the grade recorded. (Must be completed between June 12th and August 30th.) You can do additional skills on your new grade level (new 6th - 6th grade skills; new 7th - 7th grade skills) for extra credit. The two scores will be part of your grade for the first quarter. Please complete these skills no later than August 30, 2019.
In addition to the listed skills below under your grade level, you may work on areas where you are weak based on the Scantron testing results in Math by referring to your Suggested Learning Objectives. There is a corresponding IXL skill written after the objective for your guide. You will also be tested on these skills in September.
